A Taino Indian Graduates From Rutgers University

The Newark Star Ledger Newspaper: "A Cap Of A Different Color"

It is of a historical importance to note, that a Taino Indian organization of Puerto Rico, did official have documents of a past ethnic Taino community presence back in the early 1960s and 1970s. This is evident as this old picture of a then 22 year old man named Pedro Guanikeyu Torres, is seen here proudly holding his, "1977 Rutgers-Livingston Diploma", after his 1977 college graduation from Rugters the State University of New Jersey. Also note, that he was wearing his traditional Jatibonicu' Taino tribal regalia, not the commonly used cap and gown worn at all traditional graduation ceremonies at Rutgers's Livingston College.
